neat and organized soon

...another movie date this weekend...

 

 

We enjoyed this.  It was long...and we didn't really know the story.  But, I had sung or been exposed to most of the songs from Les Mis in Choir and it was very interesting to see how the songs fit into the story.  Amazing acting. worth seeing, but not necessarily for your children. Kind of "gritty"to say the least. No bad language though!

This was inspired by a Port Townsend advertisement.

 I started it last August and just recently finished it up.

 

 

...and another attempt at a quick "fashion" drawing (in front of  a mirror)...

I try to do this very quickly and spontaneously. I'm in a kind of "training" for taking my sketchbook out in public and sketching people and things quickly before anyone gets interested in what I'm doing...

Movie Date

 

The Life of Pi

 

 

Phil and I found ourselves unexpectedly

"free" this afternoon.

We went to see Life of Pi.

 

We were both enchanted by the story, the photography, everything about it.

 

So glad we got to see it (in 3-D!) before it left the theaters.

We have not read the book. Now I want to.

 

I am still having trouble with loading photos on my blog, but reading someone else's issues, I tried posting the photos while in HTML mode, then switching back to Compose.  That is much easier (fewer steps) than loading my photos onto my Picasa Web album and then loading onto the post.

 

Tomorrow we are going to see Les Miserables.

a lovely surprise

I wish I could say I've been to this performance! It took place in Redmond, WA in February this year: CAVALIA! My friend AJ and his mom went to see it, and he showed me the DVD he purchased there...

Oh my it was beautiful! Gorgeous horses (4 legged actors), beautiful accessories (2 legged actors), music and singing. Acrobatics and stunt riders! You could tell the performers were having a wonderful time! All done in beautiful circus-type tents.

The costumes, stunts and special effects were glorious!

Once in a while my day brings me a surprise and this was a lovely surprise for me today!

A weekend well spent

My weekend:

1. I made ten holiday gift tags (for Bearzaar), nearly finished

2. I "Coptic bound" three books, ring bound one vintage book cover, and organized three more books to bind.

3. Watched an OLD Alfred Hitchcock movie: NUMBER SEVENTEEN (practically a silent film).

4. Picked up Tori to come spend the afternoon with us.

5. played hide and seek.

6. baked chocolate chip blondies.

7. Watched DUMBO

8. A trip to the "train station"

9. Played three exciting games of Rummikub.

10. made home made vegetable meatball soup and cornbread.

A weekend well spent.

I spent all day today at my "third job" filling in at the Storage Unit Place, from 9 - 5:30. It is still a pretty cool place to work, and because I didn't get any great photos elsewhere, I took some around the office. They have the most amazing clocks! They are tick-tocking all day! This coffee lady is one of my favorites. OK, it IS my favorite! Isn't she great????

This guy is pretty cute too!

This chicken clock makes me think of my daughter. See the egg pendulum?

This guy is so cute too! He's in the bathroom.

There is also a very funny clock made of a fly-swatter in there! I couldn't get far enough away to get the whole thing in the picture so I'll describe it: The swatter part has the clock, and there are flies on the hands of the clock! Very weird and amusing!

This is part of a picture frame on the desk there. Fascinating huh?

Otherwise, when I wasn't answering phones or posting payments or showing potential customers what a 5 x 9 space looks like, I worked on my scrapbook from our trip to Michigan. I should be able to post some pictures from that this weekend.

When I got home, Phil was anxiously waiting for me and wanted to go out to dinner! Hurrah! I don't have to cook! We went to the Thai Garden. I ordered Teriaki Chicken with Vegetables #2 hotness (choose how hot: 1,2,3,or 4 - two was plenty hot). It was delicious. I brought half of it home because there was way too much for me to eat at one sitting. Phil ordered a yellow curry with prawns. It was SO GOOD! That's what I want next time!

We came home and watched another episode of Star Trek. I only have the season for 3 weeks before I have to return it to the library - no renewals. We don't have anything planned for the whole weekend. I hope to catch up on housework and have some kind of fun! : )

Sunday: Phil and I visited with Walker via skype. That was really fun. We could see him and he could see us as we visited. I felt like the Jetsons! (ask someone old).


Then, we went to McLane Trail - isn't it pretty? Its one of our favorite hikes, but were surprised that the beavers had dammed up the creek and totally changed the look of the area. This is one of my favorite spots though, and it hadn't changed. Phil thought he was standing out of my picture, but ha! I got him!



When we got home Phil did more wood chopping and stacking. I made applesauce from our very own apple tree and worked on some art projects. It was a nice and relaxing day.
