A little slice of my day...

 

 

 

 

Notice the binky in his hand?

 I asked him to take it out for the picture and he did!

He loves this little basketball hoop and never tires of making baskets.

 

We went to the park.  I helped Wyatt walk the "log".

Notice miss Tori's shoes?

She was up high on a slide when she took this.

 

And its hard not to "pose"

 

This is one of the playmobile characters I got for Wyatt.

I named him "uncle Walker" so Wyatt would get used to his name.

  I didn't notice the black eye and the beard until I saw it enlarged here!

 

Tori and I made iced lemon water to cool ourselves.

A sweet gift from my dad...

It's a sugar and creamer set.

The boy on the trunk lifts the lid to hold sugar...

The Couple pour the cream out through the point of the book.

We went out for a walk today and spotted these neighbors working hard.

 

The Horsetails are coming up.

 

The skunk cabbage is finishing.

 

The alders are leafing out.

THE Camera Show...

...my fourth year...

 

 

for the fourth year (Since Walker went away to college)

I've helped my dad at the annual camera show.

 

Matthew Brady was there...

 

And other interested parties...

 

I helped sell cameras, but I also got to wander

around and take photos...

 

Many colorful people, and colorful displays...

 

Its always a treat to spend the whole day, just me, with my dad.

 

 

To see him in his element.

 

I went outside to catch some local color.

 

gorgeous, but very cold and wintery...

 

but obviously Spring is on its way.

 

I loved this local mural made by students...

 

I picked out the hot air balloons to photograph...

 

That's how I felt today!

 

Dazzled

On my weekly walk around the neighborhood with Wyatt...

It was gorgeous!

I took my sweater off!

15 minutes later there was a cloudburst!

 

 

Hippopotamus Teeth

George Washington's Birthday

I heard on the news this morning that he didn't really have wooden teeth - they were made from hippo bones. hmmm. They must have just looked like wood.

I think I've posted this postcard in years past, but I can't resist.  This year I looked at the other side of the postcard too.  It was written in 1912; sent from Olympia; to "my friend Leila".

This year I am also looking at the lovely leaves and cherries - I wonder if I can paint them.

I went to my favorite thrift store this week and bought two aeropostal t-shirts.

 

I confess I bought them because of the images on the front.

 

Especially the feathers - I am going to make some rubber stamps, using those as inspiration.

I'll also wear the t-shirts, likely under layers of sweaters and raincoats!

 

My valentine roses have held up beautifully.

This is what they looked like one week later.

 

The top one is our desktop wallpaper for now.

 

Inspiration everywhere

Zebras and Lions!

 

I took this little zebra-head for a stroller walk today...

 

 

The only other wildlife we saw were these lions!

 

Even on a gray cold day, I'm on the lookout for interesting stuff to photograph - I really liked this hand-made fence.  I can just imagine it with sweet peas climbing on it in the spring.

 

We walked all the way to this bed and breakfast, which I have photographed before.

It was an easy downhill stroll...

 

but coming back - grandma was breathing hard!

 

Hurrah we made it!

 

I'm making progress on my studio re-organization. 

I hope to have some ART to share soon!

 

Photogenic Houses

I've been keeping my eyes open for "photogenic" houses...

Today I spotted this one on the East Side of Olympia.

Charming!

 

I feel a little funny taking photos of people's homes.  I wonder what I would think if someone took a picture of my house...Would I be flattered or worried?

 

And I pass this B&B (below) three times a day when I'm babysitting.

Unique!

Tori took this photo for me. 

 I was driving and she was on the correct side of the car.
