A wedding in the family

Mr. and Mrs. Zimmaro (Samantha and Anthony). The ceremony is over and they have been introduced to the family and friends.

A very pretty place for a ceremony. Samantha's daughter is the maid of honor behind her, Samantha's son is unfortunately cut off on the right.

At the reception we had such a fun time - it was almost like a family reunion. Here are three generations.

Tori and baby Sally. Today we played dolls, and school. This dolly is the present Tori got from her mommy and daddy's trip to Germany. We took turns singing little songs (Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - Itsy Bitsy Spider) and filming on movie mode on my camera. Tori made me promise not to publish on my blog! Tori read an entire book out loud to me (she was the teacher, I was the student) and she read so well! She said "I love teaching".

I loved her little collection of special friends on a shelf in her room.
Instead of closet doors, she has these very cool ribbon draperies. They are a sheer fabric behind, and these multi-colored satiny ribbons in front. adorable!

Yesterday we had thunder, lightning, rainbows, hail, and monsoon-type rains! Oh yes, and very bright sunshine! My mushroom farm loves this weather!

While I was busy all day, dinner was cooking in my crock pot:

MEXICAN CHICKEN

4 chicken breasts

1/2 cup water

1 envelope taco seasoning.

I sprayed my crock-pot with olive oil, then put all the ingredients in and turned on low. 7 hours later, I used two forks to shred the meat, and put a big pile of the chicken on Trader Joe's whole wheat tortillas, a handful of grated monterey jack cheese, some salsa and sour cream - wrapped it up and dinner is served! Very yummy. We had cole slaw on the side. Best part - there is enough left for two more meals! The mixture could be used in quesedillas, or tostadas or tacos. hmmm, breakfast?

I spent a couple of hours with Victoria today - she always smiles weird when I try to take her picture! Rascal! This is what we made - glitter butterfly cards. Cute huh? You should have seen the glitter EVERYWHERE!



We were very pleased with the results though! We made three today (all different - somehow we only posed with one style). We are going to make more tomorrow.

She made one for a Thanksgiving card, one for a friend who has been ill, and one we made together, each one half of the butterfly. It was cute - I'll get a photo tomorrow.






Even the kitty wanted to get into the glitter.


When I got home Phil said "you have glitter on your face, in your hair, on your clothes!"




Have you ever noticed how guys are allergic to glitter?


Here is Victoria with her carved pumpkin. She is making that horrible face because she lifted the lid and observed all the decomposition taking place inside! Science Project!

It has started raining here and its very gloomy. But, the glitter helps!

Christmas planning ...

This is one of the adorable cards I learned out to make tonight! Claudia and I had SO MUCH FUN! We were the only two in the class, and the teacher let us make TWO of each card, instead of one. It was like a private lesson, we could talk and visit, it was too much fun!

Here's the table we worked at. The basement at Sharin Memories is our Rubbermaids "home away from home" where we often meet. The ladies there are so happy to have us there they are especially nice to us.
Here's a sneak peek at what we made - six cards - two each. Its not only the cards, but the techniques we learned, so we can make more on our own. Nothing was too hard, except the one with the brown rosette - tricky!

At our next Rubbermaids meeting, we are each making 15 cards, to give to the veterans at the Orting Veteran's home. If we each make 15, there will be one for each of the old veteran's living there for Christmas.

Now I'm getting in the mood for the holidays!

I've been busy...

OK, I've had a busy day, but I did re-hang my "Give Thanks". Its not a very great photo, but I thought it was a nice portrait of me in my pink bathrobe!
This is what I've really been working on - Norwegian Chickens - beanbags for Jonathan. What do you think? Its blue denim, filled with sand.

Here are the three hens. I am thinking about making six.

Walker called tonight - he's anticipating signing up for next semester's classes - first thing tomorrow morning.

I will be taking a class, making Christmas Cards, with Claudia tomorrow. I will definitely have pictures of that...

Post Number 51 - is that possible?

I am so happy today, because, I finally have my dental work UP TO DATE! After last week's narrow escape (and did I say I got a $10 Starbucks card as a prize?) I went back in today to finish. It wasn't bad, except for personal anxiety.

Here is page two of my Pt. Townsend art journal. I was trying out that silhouette technique along with writing just for the look of it. It was very fun to do. I need another trip so I have more material...

Here I am in Italy sipping my latte near the leaning tower of Pisa. This is from the Trader Joe's coffee label. I like it.

And some of the last leaves lying about. Today was actually a very pretty day, sunny and somewhat warm. Going off of daylight savings is a pain though. Its always harder (for me) in the Fall than in the Spring, even if we did get an extra hour of sleep. The nights seem so long and dark.

Fall Decorating

Here is our cozy fire. Its been cool and dark all morning, but now a little sunshine is trying to peek through. The fire is so nice and cozy.

*I made these "Ginger-Pear Muffins" for lunch (along with leftover chicken vegetable curry soup). Its a recipe from Nigella Express so I'm not going to confess how much sugar is in them, but they are YUMMY! Sprinkling a little bit of brown sugar on top of each (1/2 tsp) gave the tops a sweet crunchy goodness that made it so we didn't even want to spread butter on them!

November 1st - time to start thinking about all the end-of-year holidays! Here is my "Give Thanks" banner project - finally put together. I pinned it to the back of the stairs. I'm not sure that is its final place, I might want to put it over the kitchen sink, but for now I like it here.
I finally got out my pumpkin quilt too! I can keep this out until we bring out the Christmas decorations.

And all my favorite Thanksgiving table decorations.

I think today would be a good day to rearrange the living room furniture! and maybe make muffins! *
